THE
THREE W'S
Water:
• Water
is essential for good health and also essential following a
Bowen Treatment. Bowen results in an increase in blood supply
to nerve endings and affects the movement of lymph around the
body. The effective functioning of these systems is entirely
reliant on water and on average the recommended water consumption
is 2L per day.
• Tea, coffee, squash, fruit juice and herbal teas although
are fluids do not count as water. Water should be taken in small
quantities in order to avoid an excessive increase in urination.
Walk:
• Walking assists the movement of fluid, especially lymph, around
the body. Lymph removes all kinds of debris from the system
as well as moving fluid around the body. Think of a pond life
is static and limited has little oxygen and lots of scum and
muck. Add and inward supply of water to the pond and movement,
current and energy is created.
• The action of standing prevents any stiffness or soreness
that might emanate from the treatment and in effect resets the
work each time one stands up.
• The movement and muscle contraction assists the movement of
lymph around the body. As the lymphatic system does not have
its own pump it relies on the movement and muscular contraction
to move fluid around system.
• It is good to adopt this movement policy into everyday life
as well as on the day of the treatment. One should not sit for
periods longer than 30-40 mins without getting up and moving
about.
Week:
• It is recommended to have between five – ten days between
treatments. Seven is seen as the optimum in most cases.
• Re-injury, pregnancy, surgery, terminal illness/palliative
care and brain damage, especially stroke patients, are examples
of cases where more treatment sometimes daily can be indicated.
